India Pays homage to 26/11 Victims
Mumbai City bled on 26/11, 166 persons died and over 300 suffered injuries. The country remembered those who lost their lives and showed solidarity to the kin of those who lost life. We have to ensure peace and prosperity in the world and pray world leasders work to achieve the goal.
India paid homage to victims of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and resolved again to fight the forces that perpetrate terror on innocent people. I f assurances of Home Minister P. Chidambaram in the context are considered in its right perspective, they reflect the concern of the country and are explicit to warn those who are responsible to see India bleeding from its thousand cuts.
The Parliament has also passed a resolution paying homage to the victims; Speaker Meira Kumar put the resolution before the House “Terrorism has no justification whatsoever in a civilized world and it is the duty of every country that wants to see peace and progress to resist these dark forces. This House shares the sorrow of families who have lost their loved one in the attacks” Parliament further resolved to “unitedly fight and defeat terrorism and never again allow to spill the blood of innocent people”.
In the city of Mumbai there were tears, memories and the city moved on. The people went to their work as usual, pausing for a few moments in remembrance placing flowers and lighting candles at the memorial. Country has revamped its forces and has added modern weaponry. High preparedness has been achieved in response to the incident and to prevent its recurrence.
In Chandigarh too various prayer meetings were held. People lit candles and marched to Sukhna Lake. Dainik Bhaskar a leading Hindi daily also held programmes in which crowds offering their tributes could be seen. A few of the educational institutions held painting competitions where children depicted the harrowing scenes of the carnage.
In the wake of US trip by Prime Minister Dr. Man Mohan Singh, he has reiterated India’s stand that the nation will not rest till the perpetrators of the crime are punished. His resolve has been endorsed by US President Barack Obama. Both the leaders stressed the need to combat terrorism and to destroy their safe havens.
However, thought the menace is worldwide, yet the determination to fight the menace is shaky. No country wants to invite wrath of the terrorists on their soil. And the offenders are well in the know of these phenomena of the world leaders. Elimination of terror is bound to lead to peace and progress. Even countries, from where terror originates, would be able to march on the way peace and progress once they succeed in elimination of the threats.
