Blog Interviews: Four Ways to Create Interesting Interview Content

Every now and then, almost every blogger loses the urge to post new content. It could just be a monthly break, or it could be a sign that they need to look for new blog ideas, and new methods for creating inspiring, interesting blog content. One of the most popular ways to overcome content drought is to interview someone influential in your niche, community, or industry.

Of course, when you have the opportunity to speak to someone influential, it pays to have a plan put together to ensure everything goes off without a hitch. You only get one opportunity to put a unique and interesting person’s voice on your blog, and without a plan it could easily fall apart. These four methods, tips, and strategies are great for finding interesting interview subjects, creating interesting content, and delivering results that your audience loves.

1. Connect with potential subjects well in advance.

Most top bloggers and interesting interview participants are busy, and springing an appointment on them is a good way to get a rushed interview. The best way to ensure that your interview is high quality is to invest a lot of time into preparation, particularly through conversation and in building a relationship with the participant. A good way to start is by contacting the person without an interview request, and bringing the possibility up once you have established an email or online relationship.

2. Get to know them, so you don’t have to during the interview.

You want your interview to have a deep connection, and the only way to create that is to really connect with your interview subject before the blog interview itself takes place. Send email exchanges back and forth, sharing information about one-another and asking simple questions. Readers do not like to wade through uninteresting content in an interview, they want to skip straight to the interesting stuff. Save your subject’s and your readers’ time by developing a friendly relationship before you ask any to-be-published questions.

3. Don’t just ask the same questions as everyone else.

If you are interviewing a figure that’s popular in the blogosphere, there is a high chance that they have been asked the same ten questions over and over again, leading to script-like responses to them. There is nothing more annoying than seeing a good interview opportunity wasted on the same old questions, so make sure you do some research before you plan out your interview topics. A good way to generate questions is to look through previous interviews; what questions got great responses? Find questions that have been asked over and over again, and delete them from your interview plan.

4. Let your readers participate.

An interactive interview is incredible when it comes to keeping long-term readers on board. If you use an online video or audio streaming tool, it is possible to have your interview be a dynamic experience for you and your audience. Let them know when you’ll be online, what you will be talking about, and how they can get their questions answered.

Categories and Tags for Your Blogging Success

To achieve blogging success, you need to be aware of the importance of proper usage of categories and tags at your blog. Part of the blog optimization is to discover and assign categories and tags for your blog posts. This will enhance the blog structure and content relevance at different sections of your blog.

What Are Categories?

In your blog, when you create a new post, it needs to be categorized under one name, not more. Why is that so? Because categories are like folders you create at your computer. The best way of organizing your files at your computer so that you can find them easily later will be to save them into one particular folder.

In a blog, when you write a new post, it shouldn’t be placed at two categories either. So, you create a series of categories and save your new post under one of them. This helps the navigation of the content at your blog. Your readers who want to look for the posts related to a particular topic, they easily go to that specific category and scroll down the list of your posts to find what they are looking for.

What Are Tags?

Tags are also very similar to categories. That is why many treat them similarly. Each post could have tags describing what they are about, but the point of distinction is that you can use as many tags as you want for a single post. Tags are not used for navigating your blog either. So, most of the professional bloggers do not use tags on their sidebars.

As keywords are used to identify what the website content is at a particular article or webpage, tags are used to describer what a post is all about. In other words, they are used as keyphrases for your posts. You need to look at them as keywords for your blog. At blog optimization stage, SEO experts conduct keyword research for your blog and the phrases they select that best describe your blog’s topic and content are used as your tags.

Blogging Success Requires Diligence

When you use a few categories and much longer list of tags for your blog and write your blog posts based on the keywords discovered for you, you are on the right path toward the accomplishment of your vision. Here are a few points for you to remember:

O Reduce the number of Categories at your blog

O Your categories should generally introduce your posts

O Show your categories as part of your blog navigation

O Allocate at least a few tags for each post you write

O Be sure that your tags are your keywords

O Make sure your tags are relevant to the content of your posts

When you are certain that you have followed the above simple guidelines, you can be sure that you are blogging appropriately and practicing the best methods to attract both human readers and search engines.

Making Money With Blog – How to make money blogging

Comments Off
January 14, 2010

This year, I’m going to bank more than $200,000.00 working 15 to 25 minutes a day by corporate blogging… yes, making money blogging is a reality.

I don’t say this to brag, but merely to get you excited about the possibilities of how to make money blogging in less time than it takes to eat lunch today.

The bad news is most people won’t make money blogging. In fact, most won’t make a single penny and are going to give up too soon. Most bloggers post a few blog posts and then quit. That’s a shame because if they give it some more time, making money blogging is SO exciting.

Here are the reasons why you’re not making money with blogs:

Don’t have the time – Writing for your blog seems time consuming at first, but it doesn’t have to be.

I invest 15 to 25 minutes a day blogging. And I write my own, fresh 100% original content.

Sometimes I can crank out a great blog post in just minutes. Other times I get stuck and get distracted. When I suffer brain freeze, I take a break and return later to finish my blog entry.

The key to writing quickly is to:

- Not worrying about typos or poor grammar on the first draft…

- Use Google’s FREE amazing keyword tool to hunt down blogging ideas…

- Eliminate all distractions…

- Write like you talk…

- Pretend you’re writing to an 8-year old (i.e. write short sentences)…

- Use time tested copywriting formulas (like the Hagelian Dialectic)…

- Reward yourself after you’ve finished blogging

Analysis Paralysis – Perfectionism is the blog writer’s achilles’ heel.

Don’t worry about crafting the perfect blog. Your English teacher isn’t reading your blog, and you can always fix typos and grammatical mistakes in the future.

In fact, I actually make more money when I have the occasional spelling mistake. It’s true. That’s because a lot of people use search engines to find my blog content… and those same people can’t spell when searching Google. And when their search query matches my typo in my blog post, I have an excellent chance of getting that same searcher to my blog.

Brainwashed – For some odd reason, fellow bloggers convince us that it’s “selling out” to write a blog for profit. Well guess what…  I “sold out” a long time ago. And it’s thanks to making money with blogs that affords me the toys my family enjoys.

Writing for your blog is no different than writing for Readers Digest or writing a book. These authors get paid and so should you.

Unclear about how to make money blogging – I suffered this problem for years. I didn’t know how to monetize my writing. I tried everything from affiliate programs to selling my own stuff to placing Google AdSense classified ads next my blog posts. Nothing worked. It was depressing. And I stopped blogging for years because of it. I listened to all of the wrong “gurus.” And my bank account suffered.

But today, I figured out how to turn my content into a virtual online tollbooth. Yes, affiliate programs and selling my own stuff and even Google AdSense are now paying off. The key is to know where to place these money-making links near your blog content.

In the past, I made all of the typical blogger mistakes. But today, every blog post I write ultimately makes me money. That means every time I write, I ultimately get paid — for life.

Don’t know how to attract blog visitors – You can blog about sports scores and predict tomorrow’s lottery numbers, but if no one knows about your blog, you’re going to be wasting your time. And you’re ultimately going to be frustrated and give up.

That’s why the moment I press the “Publish” button and submit my blog post, my promotion efforts go into full swing.

I use social media tools and sites like Digg,Twitter and Reddit to announce my new blog posts. I submit my RSS feed to tons of RSS directories. I copy my content and publish it to article marketing directories like EzineArticles and ArticlesBase. And if I have the extra time, I create a quick 2- to 3-minute video and post it to YouTube for additional promotional activity (including a link back to my blog post).

It takes me less than 25 minutes to promote my blog entry. That’s it. And the results are almost instant and amazing. In fact it’s not unusual to have my blog post show up in Google just hours after publishing my blog entry. Sometimes I get featured in just minutes.

And the best part is this 25-minute investment pays off for life.

Writer’s block – By far, the most common reason bloggers fail to earn money blogging is because they hate to write.

I hear you and completely understand your disdain for writing. I HATED to even read most of my school-age life. I never read a single book until age 19. I cheated my way through high school… got 940 on my SATs (yes, that’s combined). And I flunked out of college to the displeasure of my parents.

But today, I’m a writing machine. I LOVE to write. And my secret is simple… I follow one of many copywriting formulas. These formulas have been used throughout the ages to hook in the reader and get them excited to take an action (like subscribe to a newsletter, click on a link or buy something).

Get this… you can even borrow someone else’s writing and make money at the same time. It’s true. Article directories offer this FREE. Just copy the article in your niche, paste it into your blog… press the “Publish” submit button and watch your bank account grow (over time).

Final tip – There’s no reason for you to struggle with making money blogging. If you’re ready to earn money blogging right now, you might want to grab these corporate blogging tips, techniques and methods.

Pros and Cons of Article Spinning Software

Pros and Cons of Article Spinning Software

If you are in the internet marketing business, you may use articles to promote your site.  Any smart webmaster knows it is important to write article with the right keywords. There are other options besides only adding content to your site. Unlike search engine traffic, the articles you write with keyword phrases can bring referrals.

In what way can you get traffic through referrals? Do you own a blog to accompany your website? The articles can double as blog posts and be submitted to directories. The resource box is included at the end of each article with a backlink to your site. These methods are good to try.

It is beneficial to know there are many ways to use articles. Are you allowed to use these articles more than once? Yes, but you may not prefer to use the same content on your blog and website. The duplicate content could harm your site dropping it in search engine rankings.  You will lose sales well as credibility. This is a good reason to spin or rewrite your article so you get a different article but say the same thing. Spinning produces a unique article.

If rewriting your articles seems like work, maybe you need some help. Do not hire a rewriter unless you plan to spend more money.  It can become costly if you need several articles rewritten. The normal fee a write charges to rewrite is around $10 for a 500 word article. Ten dollars sounds reasonable but the cost adds up . Spinning or rewriting is recommended especially if you   need several articles rewritten.

If you search for information online for spinning and rewriting you stumble across many programs and applications to buy. The software looks impressive at first glance. The software claim to make your work easier but are they worth the costs. It depends on several factors.

It is important to know not all spinning and rewriting software is the same. If you search online for free rewriting software you find most just rearrange your words or replace synonyms. The rewritten article is usually unreadable. Others require you to manual edit your article or spin it. This could take time but the article makes more sense.

You may wish to stay away from the automatic article rewriters.  Look for reviews to make sure your money isn’t wasted. Webmasters sometimes review spinning software they try. Read what they say. It should be easy to read. Examine each critique carefully even if the software gets rave reviews. Be cautious. of gushy testimonials. Anything can be faked online. A good review will also list cons and give solutions.  Nearly every piece of software has cons. Do the pros outweigh the cons? If there are too many cons or negative reviews , you may wish to look elsewhere.

The next thing to consider about article rewriting software is price. Article rewriting software comes in an assortment of price ranges from inexpensive to maybe around $100. Examine how you will be paying. Is the cost a one time fee or a recurring membership fee? True some article rewriting  software is worth the cost. Determine if it will cost les to pay to hire someone or rewrite the article yourself.  If you hire a rewriter at east you get a genuine person instead of software. A human writer will give you a much more readable article though the results aren’t always guaranteed.

You should at least give article spinning  afterthought you personal tastes will be the determining element. Don’t pas sup free trial periods. You can find out if you like the software before you spend the money. You will have nothing to lose and decide if it is worth the hype. You can always rewrite them yourself for free.

Starting a Blog? Here are Two Reasons Why You Should Use Free Blog Templates

Comments Off
January 14, 2010

Blogs are great platforms for expression. Nowadays, it’s also a great marketing tool for internet marketers. The original purpose of blogs has evolved from being just a simple online diary to a wonderful advertising tool. But that is not the only thing that changed. There are now plenty of free blog templates you can use to spruce up your own website. And if you think these are a waste of time, think again. There are some good reasons why using a template is useful.

Extra functions

Generic templates or those provided by your blog host upon setup are boring and often limits certain functions you want to add.Free blog templates, however, are widget-friendly, meaning you can install some helpful gadgets in your blog for your readers. Widgets are excellent accessories for any websites. They add specialized functions, from weather to shortcuts and image gallery to video linking. If you want to provide your readers with a little something extra when visiting your blog, adding a widget-friendly template will be a great solution.

You have to remember, though, which function is great and which is not. It is certainly easy to go overboard with the widgets. Even if the free blog templates allow the inclusion of these ancillary gadgets, you should also remember specifically what to add. Never add too many widgets or your blog could easily get confusing. Instead, limit your choice to one or two superb widgets that will provide the functionality you want to offer your readers.

Distinction

Although many templates may look alike, you can still attain a level of uniqueness when using free designs. If you are just starting out, however, you might find it difficult to edit your template. But with patience and a lot of dedication, learning CSS can be easy.

CSS is not necessarily a programming language but a style sheet used to create blog templates. There are websites that offer in-depth tutorials in tweaking your blog’s CSS. These are excellent resources that you must take advantage of. After a while of learning and trial-and-error, you will eventually be able to customize your template.

Make sure that the free blog templates you’re considering for your blog can be customizable. There are those whose headers can be changed and others that are what-you-see-is-what-you-get types. You can easily determine which is which by reading the respective description of the template you’re about to download. If you can customize it, go ahead; if not, look for another one.

Blogs and Websites

Comments Off
January 14, 2010

When internet first started, there were virtually no blogs, there were just websites. These websites probably took a long time to put together, and they took a lot ot update as well. The internet was likely a lot more complicated then and only people with extensive tech knowledge could publish. All anyone else can do is just read the content.

A little over ten years later and now basically anyone who can type has their own website. Websites have gotten a lot simpler to create, and update. Also, a newer type of website has entered the scene. They are called weblogs, more commonly known as blogs. They are what you get when you cross a traditional website with a message forum.

Blogs have made it even easier to have an online site. All you have to do is sign up for a host, (free or paid) pick a template, and just write down your beliefs, thoughts, knowledge,  experiences, etc. Traditional websites have gotten easier to handle but nowhere near as simple as a blog. The quickest person would probably take a couple of hours to setup a website, because you have to add pages and content before your website is ready. But a blog on the other hand, just one post and you are good to go.

Online hosting is another factor to consider whether you are going to have a blog or a website. While there are free hosts for both of them. You have more control on the ones you pay for. While blogs are a lot easier to use than traditional websites, blogs also have inespensive hosting compared to traditional websites.

There are disavantages to blogs as it compares to websites. But they are easily overcome once you figure out a way to accomodate for it. The only disadvantage would be that some people probably won’t take you seriously on a blog as opposed to a website. But if you prove that you can make the most of what you have, then perhaps you might win those types over.
